An ilui literally means a genius. But, in the category of genius, there are many strata that can define the depth of the intellectual prowess of the one who possesses such profound mental capacity. When a person is referred to as Ha-Illui, meaning he is THE ilui upon which all other illuim are compared, one can only imagine the breadth of knowledge that this Torah giant processes. Rabbi Shlomo Polachek, the Meitscheter Illui, is the genius after whom this Jerusalem street is named. In this lecture, in addition to discussing the life and times of this fascinating figure in Jewish History, Rabbi Wein also discussed three other illuiim who have had an impact on the Jewish People and on his life personally.
