Item Description:
One of the greatest watershed moments in Modern history of the West was the American Civil War. The triumph of the Union over the confederate states settled certain basic issues such as slavery, and the right of the states to secede, however it has provoked long-standing issues of race, minority rights and the public policies that affect the United States and much of the Western world until today. It has also raised great moral issues that lie at the heart of many of the political conflicts of our time. This series of lectures attempts to deal with the Civil War, its underlying issues and its unsolved moral questions.
